Lost in the Pines

In the pines I found myself many years ago
The sun shone through
and then I knew
that I was God and God was you

Do the trees obscure
or is it just that I am sleeping through
the beams that reach to find my heart
at the core of who you knew

You’re asking God where is she now
but I ask the same of you
I may be lost inside the woods
but I can find you in the blue

Are you in the sky or in the seas
where rays of light are few
Are we underneath the same sun now
are we over the same moon

You are the whale beneath the waves
and the hawk above the breeze
You looked up and you looked down
you couldn’t see me for the trees
